The PSI Alliance is to be established and launched on the 23 January 2008.
In outline the manifesto of the PSI Alliance subject to agreement; is likely to be:
1. Clarity from national Governments and the European Commission over what Public Sector Information is available in the European marketplace.
2. The unlocking of PSI assets which are not currently available and clarity from national Governments and the European Commission over how the
available PSI can be used.
3. Clarity over the role of Public Sector Information Holders, which are often open to undesirable conflict of interests.
4. More detailed policy and guidance on PSI Trading activities across Europe to encourage the development of a fair and competitive marketplace and end unfair competition by Public Sector Information Holders.
5. The establishment of PSI asset lists and for Public Sector Information Holders to publish metasources of data on information as it is not always clear who currently has rights over PSI.
6. The establishment of a review process by the Commission and national Governments that is swift, low cost, transparent, independent and robust.
7. The review of the Re-Use of PSI Directive and implementation of the INSPIRE Directive by the European Commission.
8. Complementary measures to support the existing legal European PSI regime.
